Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known under his pseudonym "Dr. Seuss,") provided humor, wisdom and life lessons to millions of little kids… and the big kids who read his stories with them - including me.
As with family and friends, I believe a successful workplace is the result of the relationships we have with those around us. It’s all too easy to become consumed by results, deadlines, budgets and even our own ‘place’ in a whirlwind workplace, when we should really take time to recognize, trust and appreciate the folks we spend a good portion of every day with.
So naturally I wrote a little Seussian poem about it. I hope you enjoy….
The poem is also available as a free download in various formats (PDF, JPGs, etc...) by clicking on the Downloads menu...or just click HERE

Text Only Version.....
We must engage to reach the top,
or else our profits start to drop,
as effort and output belly flop.
Staff clock-watching, uninterested,
Coming to work, now detested,
Team discord and disillusion,
always in search of a solution.
What, when, where, how?
Let me tell you here and now!
We’d rather not wait to be told,
what to do… or feel controlled.
Instead be trusted and respected,
to work stuff out… not be directed.
We want to talk and you to hear,
not ask us questions once a year…
In time appear,
Not relevant here.
So this is what we’d like to see…
…to be the best that we can be!
Empower people, watch us soar,
with a smile, we will do more.
What makes us different, makes us strong,
Diverse thoughts valid,
No one wrong.
Thwarting conflict before it starts,
while using our collective smarts.
No more stress or coming unglued,
just being open, feeling valued.
Our self-esteem, elevated,
so we will all be motivated.
A simple thanks or gesture sincere,
boosts workplace culture and atmosphere.
…are you a leadership trendsetter,
who’ll help us all be even better…?
If the answer is ‘yes’, concern will be assuaged.
We’ll be happy and loyal…
...and highly engaged
